I am quite clued on Solaris, thanks to a friend of mine and now thanks to OpenSolaris project I am starting to like it.

Solaris suffers from one big problem … docs.sun.com is not that clear to get through for newbies. However I’ve got an OpenSolaris Bible for my PFY.
I’ve found my self a Juniper SSG 20 which is not that expensive ( comparing to other Juniper stuff , especially brand new ) for training.

One thing which I’ve noticed strait away was the registration process. I simply couldn’t find any link on www.juniper.net which would let me create an account. I had to mistype the user and password and then system suggested to create one!! What on earth?!

Also access to ScreenOS technical documentation, I really had to dig around to find that gem. But nothing really substitutes a good book.

I’ve opted for :

ScreenOS Cookbook

Hope they will give me nice reference point for my trip into the strange world of NOT CISCO Network System

Over the last 2 weeks we were moving our offices to Aldwych. Atticmedia has moved from Islington and BDP moved from London Bridge.

This move has changed my commute route. Now I have to travel to the centre of London. On the Tube or bus this will be unpleasant.

Recently, Boris ( the Mayor ) was talking something about using river service for commute.
One day returning from Canary Wharf to Aldwych I have tried it. It’s a charge on top of Travelcard or you can get additional season ticket.
But maan, I kinda fell in love with the Thames Clippers civilised way of travel.
No sweat, no pushing around and there is a bar if you want to have your morning tea/coffee - I’ll add that’s cheaper than coffee shops.
Now, to make my commute affordable I have resign from Travel Card, what means that I will not be able to use DLR to get to Canary Wharf Pier.

This is where all these people around with bikes started working their magic. I kinda decided that a foldable bike may be an option. I had paid a visit to couple bike shops with my colleague and while he was recommending the full sized ones I couldn’t stop thinking about the ultra small one which I’ve seen on the Internet. He said the magic word ( A-bike ).

A-Bike Plus

Today I’ve ordered my first bike. The A-Bike. It has all what I need to get from Poplar to Canary Wharf and from Embankment to Aldwych without all the drawbacks of a full size bike.

Will see how it all works out.

It looked very strange , first file was nicely uploaded but the second was stalled. During debugging process I’ve discovered that any command after STOR is ignored and hanging.

I didn’t find a reason, so had to make a short-cut and now my script does one file per connection, so it opens connection, uploads 1 file, closes it. I will have to put it in a parallel loop for performance gain.

Do you have any Ideas about it ?

Good thing about it is that it’s real time so you don’t have to be logged in all the time to play. If things like research or building take hours , just close the site and do your own thing, then when you return it will be all done.

If you have 15m a day to play I highly recommend it … so far…

Yesterday, I was in Poland, having good time with my family.

Yesterday, we had a bonfire at night and my father pulled out his telescope. Just looking at some stars wasn’t that of any fun, they just appears as dots - fact, there is many more than with naked aye, but these are still dots.

After a while we started to hunt for other celestial bodies and with computers help we have discovered that only visible planet will be Saturn. After some rumbling about how hard it will be to find it, we got it in our sights.

What a pleasure and defining moment when you look at a distant planet and you see it as more than just a light source, we have seen it’s colours and rings! Amazing experience. It gets you thinking about your existence. TV/Screen does not give you that kick, only ‘live’ view …
