Uh oh, day almost as usual
Yesterday ? I have read some article on polish website ( in polish, so I’m not linking ) where somebody mentioned some writers publishing their book on a web for free under CC license. So I’ve grabber one name: Cory Doctorow who claims to be responsible for boingboing, and downloaded one of his books Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. It is a page turner!
Pissed off by Firefox, I’ve found my self playing with flock. After installing it from BugZilla ebuild ( renamed to use latest version ), and playing cat and mouse with its feed capabilities, I am now happy with it, much happier that with Firefox!
Waiting for gentoo to pick it up, and make some source based ebuild.
Read an article on CNet about online calendars, I have tried the Google Calendar, it feels really nice. Sort of Ajax version of Hula Calendar. Introduced Ann to this nice place on the web, after some time which she needed to get used to new stuff we played in events and calendars sharing. It also sends good invites in ics , so my Evolution could pick it up. Nice! Missing just a sync with a Palm OS devices and a lot of people will be in heaven.
Finally got my Web Mail interface working on my Hula server. My problems appearing because I’m using two different machines to compile hula, and to run it. I’m compiling with the latest libs and so on , while running on much stripped distro …
Got to change my hula to a 668 r, it still isn’t perfect but at least I see attachments over IMAP
and have fully encrypted one.
I’m trying to swap my(not my) box with my box, that means that I’ll have to play with hula, which apparently has changed a lot since I’ve updated it last time on present box. I’m unfortunate to checkout(SVN) every time, when this thing is partially not working , grrr
Should I play with new, or just use the old, which works(but with nasty bug, which makes me angry sometime…)
Recently I’ve experienced some problems with HULA. I’ve been using stock install from Ubuntu Universe repository. Which is outdated. Actually the problem was with very big spool, but update to HEAD from SVN repo got some improvements in things which I appreciate, thanks guys!
Got TLS working, what is very important to me
, I’ll have to change some things on router to get it working with WebAccess. but that minor issue.
Recently I’ve started to test new games on my machine. I haven’t played for ages, and now, I’m spending free time on gaming
, instead of any other activity. So I’ve tested Half Life 2, Doom 3, and Unreal Tournament 2004.
And the winner is Unreal
I like it, like prequels which were very nice. Unfortunately Doom 3 has requirements which are impossible for me to deliver, so I wasn’t even able to test it properly
.
Half Life 2 is a good game, it really nice done, and there is one but, which disqualifies it. It’s really unfortunate, because it if the scary thing. I can’t even play it with out jumping every 10 seconds, oh no, it’s not for me, definitely.
While the winner is nice, very nice, and has something very important, it keeps you on the same map, with the same people for couple hours with out boring you. I’m thinking right now about buying it, but first, I have to look around and check when 2005 is coming
Other things, Hula is working fine, I just need to get it on maple. with out MX record, so I will be able to take it over
Actually I’ll sent a request email to 1&1, and see what happen.
Today is a OTRS day.
So wake up at about 12:00, then some food…shopping…
Buying(On-Line) Marylin Manson – Mechanical Animals ( IO an old tape), so I can hear all the sounds
.
Installing OTRS, Apache, and MySQL on my testing machine( big thanks goes to Ken, for lending it ). Some configuration for newly installed services.
Some Sex & the City… grr, at least it helps me getting new Ideas for solving thing.
Reading documentations for OTRS… solved , and Now my beautiful new system with a Hula, Otrs is working almost perfect ( need to read a little about mod_perl in apache2, ‘cos it’s veeery slow on testing machine, with my configuration for Otrs.
BTW. I’ve never said thanks to OTRS GmbH, so… thanks guys, good soft!
Successful day
Got Kens computer actually working, as I expected.
So VoIP is up and running ( there maybe some problem with a mic, later).
Hula is serving WWW access, and IMAP access for external connections, and full service for internals.
Today, the Program was first time launched and…. after couple changes to the code, even working
, so now some polish to the code, and adding new functionality after.
Tomorrow also will have to focus on OTRS. So, after weekend I’ll setup new Support system.
Social.
Called Poland today, long talk with my Bro, Parents and Ann.
Or for somebody it’s Holiday , Easter.
So thanks to that I have Friday, and Monday free.
Just cleaned up my room, so it is not looking like a garbage.
Lately I’ve got Kens old laptop, and now, I’m trying to make some use of it.
Main responsibilities for this machine are, VoIP, and Hula. But for now, I just have to updateUbuntu on it, and then get VoIP working on it. what is important since I’ve changed port forwarding on my firewall, and I can’t use VoIP on my laptop.
